3 Ways To Wear A Long Vest

Good morning guys!  I’ve got a new post up and it’s a fun one.  A few weeks ago, I did a MAJOR closet detox and was stunned at what I found.  There were items I hadn’t worn in over a year, stuff that no longer fit me, clothing I had only worn a handful of times, and the worst of them all – brand new items (with tags intact) I had “forgotten” about.  Luckily, I only had a few of these pieces, but the thought of just throwing away my hard earned money made me cringe.  So, it got me thinking.

With the year winding down and a new one just around the corner, I’d love to start up a new monthly series in 2019 to focus on styling my favorite pieces 2-3 different ways.  It might be staple piece I’ve had for years or a new favorite item in my closet, but the goal is to show you how to get the most wear out of your favorite items.

       LOOK 1 – A NIGHT OUT WITH THE GIRLS

Today’s post is all about my latest obsession with this long vest coat by J. McLaughlin.  I can honestly say this coat will definitely be one of those staples I wear for many seasons to come. The color, the fabric, and the fit is incredible.  It’s originally $248, but currently on sale for $160 so RUN! I promise you won’t be disappointed. For my first look, I paired it with this drop-waisted polka dot dress.  The hemline worked perfectly with the length of the vest, but if you’re wanting a bit more coverage, throw on some tights and you’ll be ready to paint the town red with your girlfriends! This dress is old, but I linked 3 similar styles. I love the color and print contrast and this color combo gives it a hint of holiday glam without being over the top.

LOOK 2 – WEEKEND UPTOWN CHIC

This is favorite look out of the 3! It’s stylish, comfortable, and so chic! This is an outfit I could wear for a fun weekend outing with the family or as an everyday look when I’m with my girls. The all-ivory look keeps it simple and classic while the long vest adds the perfect pop of color.  My top + jeans (both from J. McLaughlin) are SO comfortable! 

LOOK 3 – EDGY STREET STYLE 

For my 3rd look, I went with an edgier look for when my mood is feeling a little fierce. If that top looks familiar, it’s because it’s actually my dress! I just tucked it into my skirt for a completely different look and it worked. The raw-hemmed denim skirt and booties were the perfect addition to complete my street style vibe.
