Does anyone else feel like this year is moving way too fast? We’re already a week into April and I’m still trying to play catch up with our Spring Break plans. The girls had their break a few weeks ago, but sadly, we cancelled everything when Marli caught the flu. So, I’m surprising the girls with a Spring Break do-over at the beach and can’t wait for some fun in the sun! Today, I’m partnering up with adidas to share a few Spring Break tips and ideas on how you can keep the entire family healthy, happy, and active this break.
PACK SNACKS – Whether you’re hitting the road or planning to take the fun outside for the day, prepping healthy snacks is key! Keep those hungry bellies full with good nutrients that will fuel them throughout the day. Store them in individual packs so it’s easy to grab-n-go. If you’re looking for a sweet treat, I love making homemade yogurt popsicles for the girls. It’s super easy to make and only takes a few ingredients – your favorite fruit, fat-free yogurt, and honey. Will share a recipe with you guys soon!
STAY HYDRATED – Grab a cooler and fill it up with your favorite drinks. Instead of juice, which is loaded with sugar, we love making infused water for the kids.
COMFORTABLE CLOTHES – Whether you’re hitting the beach or heading to the park, make sure everyone is dressed the part. If you’ve never dressed a 3 and 6-year old, let me tell you. They have strong opinions about what they will and will not wear. Thankfully, they love adidas as much as me so it makes life so much easier. The girls have had their adidas Superstar sneakers for forever and I secretly love that we are all twinsies. Marli is wearing the kid version and Matea has the toddler one. Both run true to size. I talked about my Flashrunner sneakers in a previous post and sizes are limited, but they do have other colors like this pretty pink shade. I’ve been loving this collegiate baseball-inspired adidas sweatshirt design. It is SO soft and I hope they make more colors! It does run small so I would size up. (I’m wearing a medium.)
Also, how cute are these mini backpacks? I die. They’re the perfect size for kids and for only $30, I couldn’t resist. But, between you and me, I actually got them because I was tired to lugging their stuff around. My girls have this thing where they have to bring ALL the things when they leave the house even if it’s to walk the dogs. Toys, books, paper, markers, trash…you name it. So, now that they have their bags, they can fill it up with whatever they want.
GET MOVING – There are so many ways to squeeze in a workout without actually hitting the gym. If you’re going to the park, ride a bike to get there, make up a ball game to play with your kids, or do a quick 15 minute HIIT circuit while they’re on the playground. If you’re traveling somewhere new, get your steps in by exploring the area by foot and go on a scavenger hunt to make it fun for the kids. Lastly, there are plenty of indoor playgrounds where you can burn some serious calories if you want to stay indoors.
PROTECT YOUR SKIN – Chances are you’ll be spending a good amount of time outdoors to make sure to protect your skin with protective clothing and plenty of sunscreen.
REST UP – Spring Break should be a time to make fun memories, but don’t forget to get your rest too! When scheduling your plans, allow some downtime to relax. Take naps and enjoy an early bedtime. Your body will thank you!
Hope you guy enjoyed this post! Share what you guys did (or plan on doing) for Spring Break this year in the comments below. As always, thanks so much for stopping by!
